hi to all living jerusalem team, hanan asked me to know more about how i live jerusalem. first of all today we cant live jerusalem u know why? its because of he occupation that we are suffering from. jerusalem is a wonderful place u can live in. but how u can fee,u are realy living in jerusalem while the israeli soldiers everywhere stops you and asks u forur id card and makes you waiting for 10-15 to return to u ur id card. how can i live jerusalem without freedom. and its not just about me many many palestinians who are passing in jerusalem would be asked for his id card, while many jews pass all the ways of jerusalem and no body tell them anything or stops them. and my question now for the jews team why is that happening?????? its just one example of what is done towards the Palestinians from the israeli occupation soldiers....
Marhaba ya Boulos, I am so glad to see that your blog is up, and am even more glad that you have posted about your life in Jerusalem. I really hope this will open people's eyes and ears to the terrible situation occuring there. I dearly hope, inshAllah that you and the Palestinians will have freedom there soon. You have a beautiful country Boulos:) Take care. Salaam, Ashanthi
I agree yaa Boulos. The occupation and the point of Jerusalem IDs make you feel less human than that of the Israelis. InshaAllah that will change soon once more people from the Israeli Jewish side open their eyes and see how inhumane it is.
thank you for ur feelingful comments. another thing i want to say about the material of conference 3 that we will not share in it cause my university will be closed that day. so i concluded from the material and from living in jerusalem that regardless of the fact that the moslems, christians, jews said that this is our land (and its not anybodys land its for God at the end) the moslems and the christians can live side by side in jerusalem but with jews no body can live with them because they dont want any other people to live with them other than jews and im asking them why? let us say this is ur land ok take it but dont attack anybodys holy places let them use it as they want and dont forbid them from going to it. for example im as a christian person on this year holy saturday celebrations i was forbidden to get into my church to pray by the israeli soldiers imagine they told me that u need a permission to get into the church. is that fair while all the jews go to their wailing wall without any permission or interfering from the israeli soldiers. hope everbody understood what i meant by that. waiting for ur comments....
tyib boulos i know how frustrating it can be. Maybe not fully of that situation you described. But, my predicament was like this. I was born there in Falasteen but total out of my 24 years of being on this Earth, I have spent a total of 1 year there. When I went previously last year, it was the first time I had been in al Quds for ten years to see my brother get married. So, during my winter break I was there for 2 weeks and going to Jerusalem was only less than 6 minutes driving to there. But unfortuanately it was on the other side of the Wall, so it took me more than 2 hrs, with only just a few cars ahead of me at the checkpoint. But back to the story.... since it was so hard and frustrating waiting I only got to see and pray at the Aqsa once, and while i was there i wanted to walk around the Old City, I wanted to see the Holy Sepulchre also. I dont know if that is offensive being "tourist" like. But inside it had alot of Israeli Soldiers and I couldnt really go in. It confused me a bit but just being there, I didnt want to put my mood down. People in this country try not to say or admit how there is a big difference in treatment of one another and get defensive or offended whent the term "apartheid" is thrown out. And there is so much propaganda in this world that it is sometimes hard to believe something unless you are there to witness it yourself. At times, why else would there be Jewish only roads and settlements I ask, if that wasnt the case??? The story is a little more but for now, that is the similar instance I had going there.
On a different note... I just want to point out that not all Jews think this way and some are actually fighting for human rights. They are just on the brighter side handed more liberty than us due to Israel being a Jewish state.
Hi Boulos, I never been in al Quads or Palestine and I wish I’ll visit soon. I understand everything you say and some times I wonder is that what has been written for us! To live our lives hand cuffed watching this beautiful land get destroyed! The questions I want to ask you is how do you see Jerusalem in 10-20 years? Is there a place for peace to solve this problem? Do you think Palestinians (Muslims and Christians) will leave side to side with Jews peacefully? Of course that if peace was allowed to be part of this holy city.
thank you for ur comments. i wish u will visit alquds soon hanan. as a result maybe we can have peace with jews and live side by side (christians, moslems, jews) but i dont think that we might have peace with zionists because there main aim is to have state of israel free from any arabic peolple and thats could not be happen becuase we lived here and we will live here and we will not leave our homes and Gods land.
Marhaba ya Boulos, Yesterday was Jerusalem Day, and I was wondering how it affected you at all? What are the images you saw? I know some people get very hurt by the parades and celebrations that go on because Jerusalem was meant to be an international city, free for all faiths to go and pray, but that is not so anymore. Did you witness any parades, etc. or were they just in the West Jerusalem half? I understand for the Jewish people it is a triumphant day, but I would love to hear the "other side" from the Palestinians. Thank you for your insight! Take care. Salaam, Ashanthi
hi ashanti, i was wondering what did you mean by triamphant day. which triumph? is it a triumph to conquer other people lands by power, is it a triumph to kill many palestinians to take their land. i dont think it is a triumph. but the triumph is for palestinians who are until now holding their land and defending it by their blood without and terrifiying from the israeli occupation, tanks,.... . and thats a realy best proof of how much Palestinians love their land and never leave it for anybody.
Ya Boulos!!!! I am SO sorry; I did not mean it that way at all. Believe me, I am a staunch supporter of the Palestinians and their right to return, and I sympathize with you; I will never know what its like to live under a brutal occupation. I should clarify myself: I meant for a majority of Jewish people, THEY consider it a triumphant day. I personally do not believe that it is a triumphant day, and am happy that the EU chose not to participate it. My question was, in your opinion, how did you feel about the celebrations for Jerusalem Day? I love talking with you and the other Palestinian students, because here in America we do not get the "other side" of the story. It is extremely one-sided. However, I think I received my answer, but I am so sorry for my wording. I did not mean it that way, believe me. Shukran jazeelan for your response. Read my blog and you will know that I truly do not support the occupation in any form. Nor do I support the clear discrimination against the Palestinians that is practiced daily in Israel. Please accept my apologies. Take care, and inshAllah I will talk with you on Thursday! Salaam, Ashanthi
